Here at CardConnect, our team members are given progressive employee benefits aimed at promoting a healthy work / life balance. Continue reading for a first-hand account of what it’s like to work at CardConnect — straight from Merchant Solutions Manager, Tiffany Birmingham.
Over the past decade, CardConnect has successfully fostered an environment where employees can thrive, both personally and professionally. It is incredibly refreshing to work for a company that is just as invested in keeping its employees as happy as its customers. Not only do we stand on the peak of cutting-edge technology with the launch of our complete payments platform, CardPointe and the release of our updated partner portal, CoPilot, we are also creating a new future of employee benefits. Check out some of the most popular ones below:
- Catered lunch Thursdays – Every Thursday, a local catering company delights our taste buds with a themed lunch (Shepard’s Pie for St. Patrick’s Day, Taco Thursday, etc.). While munching on delicious food is always a plus, the most rewarding aspect about these lunches is that we all come together in our kitchen, find a free seat and connect. It’s not uncommon to find team members from different departments congregating over lunch, discussing upcoming product launches, thinking about new ways to get everyone together (employee Karaoke night has been thrown around) and just enjoying each other’s company. The heart of CardConnect can be seen every Thursday during these lunches.
- The CardConnect Mindfulness Program – CardConnect enlisted the help of Mindfulness guru, Diane Reibel, to create our very own Mindfulness program. Diane comes to the office every other week to help us recharge, re-center and realize different stress-relieving techniques. Our monthly workshops and quarterly Mindfulness retreats help us develop the tools needed to strengthen our mind’s ability to stay focused on what is happening at the present moment, making us more successful in work and in life.
- Farm Fresh to Office – Every Tuesday, our friends at Greener Partners, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose goal is to increase and strengthen public access to local food, provide us with this season’s freshest fruits and vegetables. Many companies that participate in Greener Partners’ Farm Fresh to Office initiative take a small portion of funds out of their employees’ paychecks to cover the cost of the crops, but not CardConnect. Our CEO, Jeff Shanahan places great emphasis on encouraging healthy eating habits at work, and what’s healthier than your very own farmer’s market?!
- The CardConnect Yoga Club – If you couldn’t already tell, CardConnect finds great value in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, which can be achieved through yoga. Every week, we have a local yoga instructor come in and conduct two mini yoga sessions in our dedicated wellness room. We’ve all come to acknowledge that yoga definitely does the body good!
My personal favorite employee benefit is the four hours of work-time per month that CardConnect provides us to volunteer with a charitable organization. It’s one thing for a company to promote the idea of giving back, but to grant us the opportunity for paid volunteer time is truly inspiring. In addition to these four hours, CardConnect as a whole supports a number of local charities that we dedicate our time to outside of work, such as Back on My Feet, the Ronald McDonald House and Francisvale Home for Small Animals.
When I first heard the name “CardConnect” I assumed we were “connecting” to something in some way, and it turns out, I was right. We connect with each other and our customers on a new parallel. The fresh and innovative ideas being brought to life will retain employees for years to come. My time here has taught me that CardConnect is not just a corporation; we are a community that thrives on a feeling of fellowship as a result of shared attitudes, interests and goals. I am proud to be part of it.
This blog is part of the CardConnect Employee series, which features unique, employee-authored content each month. A wide variety of topics will be discussed; we can't wait for you to get to know the team!
